BOOOMKEYS SETUP GUIDE
INSTALL. ADD A PACK. START TYPING.
Install the BooomKeys app once, then add any sound pack you purchase by opening its .booomkeys file. Early access builds are not yet code-signed, so your operating system may show a standard security warning during the first launch.
INSTALL ON macOS

Download and unzip the macOS app
After payment, click Download for macOS. Open the downloaded ZIP. Drag BooomKeys.app into your Applications folder. Do not run the app permanently from Downloads.

Open the unsigned early access build
Open Applications, then Control-click or right-click BooomKeys and select Open. In the warning window, select Open again. If macOS only shows a warning with no Open button, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down, and click Open Anyway next to the BooomKeys message.

Grant Accessibility permission
Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. Enable BooomKeys. This permission lets the app detect a key press so it can play a sound. BooomKeys does not need the text you type.

Grant Input Monitoring permission
In Privacy & Security → Input Monitoring, enable BooomKeys. If BooomKeys is already open, quit it completely and reopen it after changing either permission.

Find BooomKeys in the menu bar
Look for the BooomKeys icon in the top-right menu bar. Turn sound on and select your installed pack. Open any text field and type to test it.
INSTALL ON WINDOWS

Download and unzip the Windows app
After payment, click Download for Windows. The download is named BooomKeys-Windows.zip. Right-click it and choose Extract All. Keep the extracted BooomKeys folder in a permanent location.

Approve the first launch
Run BooomKeys.exe. Because this early access build is not yet code-signed, Windows Defender SmartScreen may show Windows protected your PC. This is a publisher-reputation warning, not a statement that the app is malware. Click More info, verify the app name is BooomKeys, then click Run anyway. Only install files downloaded from booomkeys.com.

Allow Windows Security if prompted
If Windows Firewall or Windows Security asks for permission, allow BooomKeys only when the file came from booomkeys.com. Do not disable Windows Security globally.

Find the app in the system tray
BooomKeys runs in the bottom-right Windows system tray with the BooomKeys logo. If it is hidden, click the upward arrow. Right-click the icon to open the app or quit it; double-click to show the settings window.

Install the BooomKeys app first
You only install the macOS or Windows app once. Future purchases do not require another copy of the app.

Download your purchased sound pack
On the payment success page or in your order email, click Download Sound Pack. The file ends in .booomkeys. Do not rename the extension, unzip it, or edit files inside it.

Open the .booomkeys file
Double-click the downloaded .booomkeys. BooomKeys should open and import it automatically. If it does not, open BooomKeys first and try the file again. On macOS, you can also right-click the file, choose Open With, and select BooomKeys.

Select the new pack
Open BooomKeys from the macOS menu bar or Windows system tray. Select the newly installed pack, turn sound on, and start typing. Every mapped key will use the sounds included in that pack.
NO SOUND? CHECK THESE FIRST
- BooomKeys is running and sound is switched on.
- A sound pack is selected inside the app.
- System volume is on and the correct output device is selected.
- macOS Accessibility and Input Monitoring are both enabled.
- You completely restarted BooomKeys after changing macOS permissions.
- Another copy of BooomKeys is not running in the background.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Is the security warning a virus warning?
No. Early access builds may show an unidentified developer or SmartScreen warning because the app has not yet been code-signed. Only download BooomKeys from booomkeys.com and never disable your system security globally.
Do I reinstall the app for every sound pack?
No. Install the BooomKeys app once. Each later purchase only requires downloading and opening the new .booomkeys file.
Where can I download my purchases again?
Open My Downloads and enter the email used during checkout.
